Entre los días 22 y 23 de mayo, especialistas del Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA), acompañados por la Dirección General de Cooperación Internacional y la Embajada Argentina en Mozambique, mantuvieron en la ciudad de Maputo encuentros de trabajo con la ONG Technoserve en los cuales se acordó trabajar en la instalación de campos demostrativos de siembra directa en la zona central del país.

 

Argentina condemns terrorist attack in Manchester

The Argentine Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated at a concert in Manchester, United Kingdom, which claimed several lives and left many injured.

Argentina firmly condemns terrorism and calls on the international community to strengthen cooperation in the fight against this scourge, which is the result of intolerance and fanaticism.

We regret the loss of life and convey our condolences to the victims' families, as well as our solidarity to those who have been injured, hoping for their quick and full recovery.

From Tokyo, Malcorra and her Japanese counterpart underscore the progress in the bilateral relationship

“We want to plan next year’s joint celebration of the 120th anniversary of our bilateral relationship,” stated the Argentine Foreign Minister from Tokyo, alongside her Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida.

"I would like to thank Japan for its support for the WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in December this year," added the head of Argentine diplomacy, also highlighting the importance of the meeting between Mercosur and Japan held a few days ago at the Palacio San Martín.

On 17 May 2017, the Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) agreed to invite the Argentine Republic to become a full member of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and its Data Bank.

The request for membership, officially submitted in November 2016, shows the commitment by the Argentine Government to nuclear energy development for solely peaceful purposes, a State Policy which has supported the Argentine nuclear industry since its beginnings almost seventy years ago.

Argentina and Qatar hold the First Meeting of Bilateral Political Consultations in Doha

The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Gustavo Zlauvinen, met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Ambassador Ahmad Hassan Al-Hammadi, with whom he held the First Meeting of Bilateral Political Consultations between Argentina and Qatar in Doha, capital of the Arab country.

Argentina condemns the murder of journalist Valdez Cárdenas

The Argentine Government joins the international community in its condemnation of the murder of Mexican journalist Javier Valdez Cárdenas, who reported on the criminal activities of the Sinaloa Cartel, committed in Culiacán, Mexico, as well as the murders of other members of the press killed during this year for their brave actions to expose those responsible for crimes related to drug trafficking.

Malcorra reaffirmed the stragetic relationship between Argentina and China

“The meeting was very fruitful and represented the completion of the work we have been doing in the past months. The different subcommittees of our bilateral table presented all the work that was carried out, from political affairs to cultural, defense, environmental and agricultural affairs," underscored Foreign Minister Malcorra after her meeting with the Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, in Beijing.

"This meeting is a new step towards integration among firms, including integration of value chains and the search for supplementary and complementary actions, as well as towards interest in investment and infrastructure projects. Thus, we expect to generate a comprehensive idea, because the partnership between Argentina and China is one of the main aspects of our strategy," stated Foreign Minister Malcorra in Beijing as she opened the Business and Investment Forum between both countries.

Su Excelencia el Sr. Shinzo Abe, Primer Ministro de Japón, y Su Excelencia el Sr. Mauricio Macri, Presidente de la República Argentina, celebraron una productiva reunión el 19 de mayo de 2017 en Tokio. Ambos líderes reafirmaron su compromiso de continuar profundizando las relaciones bilaterales y de fortalecer la Asociación Estratégica entre Japón y la Argentina.

Repudio a nuevo lanzamiento de misil por parte de la República Popular Democrática de Corea

La República Argentina manifiesta nuevamente su más enérgico repudio al lanzamiento de un misil balístico ocurrido el 21 de mayo pasado, por parte de la República Popular Democrática de Corea, en dirección al Mar de Japón, desde las proximidades de Bukchang, en la provincia de Pyeongan del Sur, el cual alcanzara en su trayecto una distancia de unos 500 kilómetros.

El misil parecería ser del tipo tierra-tierra "Pukguksong-2" y habría sido desarrollado con la tecnología aplicada en los misiles balísticos lanzados desde submarinos.

Reunión del Grupo de Trabajo de Armas de Fuego y Municiones del MERCOSUR

Bajo la coordinación de la Presidencia Pro Témpore Argentina, los días 17 y 18 de mayo tuvo lugar en Buenos Aires la XXIX Reunión del Grupo de Trabajo de Armas de Fuego y Municiones del Mercosur y Estados Asociados (GTAM) con la presencia de Delegaciones de Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Perú y Uruguay.

Participaron del encuentro representantes de los organismos de control de armas de fuego y municiones de los Estados Parte y Asociados del Mercosur, así como de las respectivas Cancillerías. La reunión contó con un segmento de participación de la sociedad civil.

133th Meeting of the Technical Commission of Justice Ministers from MERCOSUR and its Sssociate States

With the aid and collaboration of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, the 133th Meeting of the Technical Commission of Ministers of Justice from Mercosur and its Associate States was held last 4-5 May, under Argentina's 2017 Presidency Pro Tempore. The delegations of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay participated in the meeting, as well as the Associate States of Chile, Colombia and Ecuador.

The topic of transnational crimes was addressed at the meeting, among other issues, in order to compare different national laws and explore the possibility of creating cooperation tools.

Argentine deputy Foreign Minister chairs opening of 19th High-Level Meeting of the EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs

Today, the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister, Pedro Villagra Delgado, chaired the opening of the 19th High-level Meeting of the EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs, held at the Foreign Ministry in the city of Buenos Aires.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, the Secretary for Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Republic (SEDRONAR), Roberto Moro, and the President of the Representation of Malta to the European Union Council, Stephanie Pappalardo.

President Macri's State visit to Japan

On 18-20 May, the President of the Argentine Republic and his delegation will make a State Visit to Japan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during his visit to Argentina in November 2016.

It is worth noting that President Macri is the first Argentine Head of State to visit Japan in 19 years, since the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

National Coordination meeting on G20 topics

On 9 May 2017, a national coordination meeting was held by the Foreign Ministry at the Palacio San Martín with the different Ministries and Bodies of the Federal Government that participate in the work groups of the G20 Sherpas channel and Finance channel.

Sixth Regional Assistance and Protection Course on Chemical Emergency Response

On May 15-19, the "Sixth Advanced Regional Assistance and Protection Course on Chemical Emergency Response" will be held in Buenos Aires. It is the sixth edition of an initiative annually organized by Argentina with the financial support of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), aimed at training experts in emergency first response from Latin American and Caribbean countries.

La Argentina y Qatar mantuvieron la Primera Reunión de Consultas Políticas Bilaterales en Doha

El Subsecretario de Relaciones Exteriores de la Argentina, Embajador Gustavo Zlauvinen, se reunió ayer en Doha, capital del Estado de Qatar, con el  Secretario General del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de ese país, Embajador Ahmad Hassan Al-Hamadi, con quien mantuvo la Primera Reunión de Consultas Políticas Bilaterales argentino-qatarí.

Desde Tokio, Malcorra y su par japonés destacaron los avances en la relación bilateral

“Queremos asegurar la celebración el año próximo, y  de manera conjunta, de los 120 años de nuestra relación bilateral”, anunció desde Tokio la canciller Malcorra junto a su par japonés, Fumio Kishida.

“Agradezco el apoyo de Japón a la ministerial de la OMC que se realizará en Buenos Aires en diciembre de este año”, agregó la jefa de la diplomacia Argentina, a la vez que destacó la importancia de la reunión entre Mercosur y Japón realizada hace unos días en el Palacio San Martín.
